IT Salary Report |
2007 has started with an increased demand for talented IT professionals, with job posts growing by 5% for permanent positions, compared to the end of 2006. Which, according to CW jobs, is the biggest quarterly increase seen for over 5 years as figures raised from 117,127 jobs to 122,987. Contract recruitment was faced with the number of jobs advertised down by 0.4%. This was mainly in support areas. The enlarged demand, mainly in the South East and Thames Valley, has meant that there has been an increase in IT salaries, with a survey by CV Screen stating that the average advertised salary for an IT professional is £31,446.25. Staff at Entry level of the IT Profession have enjoyed a yearly increase of salary during their starting years, with figures from 2005 showing they received increases in average earnings of 6.1% and in average salaries of 6.3%. This is in addition to Company Benefits.

Beat the Boss |
Stafford Carrington, MD of Impact, appeared on the BBC hit show Beat the Boss, the programme included an interesting look into a day at Impact and you also got to meet some of the team. In the programme Stafford joined forces with two other business people from the aerospace and design industries. The team of bosses ("Big Shots") were competing against a team of children ("Bright Sparks") to invent the best new product for the children market and given an initial brief. Their task was to create a brand new football kit which improved their skill. At the end, a panel of children voted on which product was the best. For the first time in a series The Big Shots won by a landslide 18 -7 votes and Stafford’s team managed to achieve what a number of high profile business people such as Duncan Valentine had fallen short. All the proceeds from Stafford taking part in the show were donated to Comic Relief and a good time was had by all.
