IT Spending Set to Increase in 2010 Companies are looking to invest in IT in order to cut spending in other departments as they emerge from the downturn, according to a recent survey by Accenture featured in Computer Weekly. The survey, of 500 executives in the US and Europe, found that 47% anticipated that they would selectively increase spending in IT, with 10% planning to increase IT spending across the board. “Among non-IT executives there was a recognition that IT is core to the business. It is a tipping point. It reflects the longer-term trend that business executives are becoming more engaged in understanding IT” said Jeremy Oates, Managing Director for Technology at Accenture. (December 2009) The Communities Secretary introduced 20 REACH National Role Models to an audience of over 300 on Wednesday 3rd December. REACH is a programme for black boys and young black men which works to support and inspire them to raise their aspirations, attainment and achievement. Impact IT’s Managing Director, Stafford Carrington is among a group of local REACH role models. Stafford will being joining his fellow mentors in visiting schools and youth projects to talk about their personal journeys. Their role is to encourage young people to set their sights high and offer advice and support. Stafford will be working with the local community and media to support young men in raising their levels of ambition. (December 2009) Urbeatz Impact IT’s Managing Director, Stafford Carrington, delivered an Apprentice style workshop to a group of young people in Liverpool on 8th May 2009. The event was jointly organised by the local youth authority and the youth culture magazine Urbeatz and involved a number of motivational speakers including the recording artist, SWAY. Stafford, who put a group of young people through their peaces in designing an events based business idea, donated 3 tickets to Beyonce’s forthcoming MEN Arena concert as reward for the winning team. (May 2009) Impact on More Preferred Supplier Lists (April 2008) Stafford Carrington, MD of Impact, appeared on the BBC hit show Beat the Boss, the programme included an interesting look into a day at Impact and you also got to meet some of the team. In the programme Stafford joined forces with two other business people from the aerospace and design industries. The team of bosses ("Big Shots") were competing against a team of children ("Bright Sparks") to invent the best new product for the children market and given an initial brief. Their task was to create a brand new football kit which improved their skill. At the end, a panel of children voted on which product was the best. For the first time in a series The Big Shots won by a landslide 18 -7 votes and Stafford’s team managed to achieve what a number of high profile business people such as Duncan Valentine had fallen short.
